Electrifying Solutions in Fluid Filtration

The transition to electric vehicles (EVs) is rapidly reshaping the automotive industry, introducing new manufacturing challenges. Many automotive companies are ramping up their EV investments and promising all-electric lineups soon.

To remain competitive in this evolving market, component manufacturers must prioritize the filtration of industrial metalworking fluids. Transitioning to new equipment and operations presents an ideal opportunity to reassess and optimize metalworking filtration systems. The right filtration solution can significantly enhance productivity, efficiency, and the overall quality of machined parts.

Metalworking fluids and their filtration are essential in critical processes like grinding, milling, honing, and machining, which are integral to manufacturing EV and hybrid components. For EV motors and transmissions to perform flawlessly, the surface quality of every component is paramount. Proper filtration ensures cleaner fluids, which directly improves surface quality, reduces production costs, and minimizes residues that can disrupt downstream assembly processes.

Investing in the right filtration technology today is key to achieving operational excellence and maintaining a competitive edge in the rapidly advancing EV industry.

Crystal Filtration is committed to providing innovative, proprietary, and patented filtration solutions designed to meet the demands of EV and hybrid manufacturing. Our advanced media filtration solutions are engineered to reduce costs while enhancing the quality of EV and hybrid components.

Our qualified team conducts on-site evaluations of your processes, analyzing your metalworking fluids to gain a comprehensive understanding of your operations. Based on these insights, our engineers develop a customized media filtration solution tailored to your specific system and goals.

At our laboratory in Rochester Hills, Michigan, we provide detailed analysis and reporting on a wide range of sample mediums, including synthetic, semi-synthetic, and water-based coolants, paint slurries, dirty filter media, and nonwoven materials.

Common tests Crystal Filtration offers to ensure optimal filtration performance:

Ash Test

Determines the inorganic content of dirty filter media samples, with results expressed in oz./sq. yd or gm./sq. yd. By analyzing the ash content, we can recommend products that reduce usage, lower costs, and improve filtration efficiency.

Life and Efficiency Test

Evaluates a filter media's ability to remove particulates of known sizes from fluids and estimates its service life. It helps identify the most cost-effective and efficient media for specific filtration needs.

Particle Analysis (ppm)

Measures the concentration of insoluble particulates in fluids. Using a step-down technique, fluids are filtered through membranes of decreasing pore sizes (e.g., 8 microns, followed by 3 or 1 micron). The ppm value reflects the mass or weight of particulates removed, ensuring precise analysis of fluid cleanliness.

Particle Size Distribution

A laser measuring system provides a detailed breakdown of particle sizes, reported in counts per ml, ranging from 2–5 micrometers up to particles exceeding 100 micrometers.

This rapidly expanding EV market is pushing automotive part manufacturers to meet the growing demand for affordable and advanced EVs and hybrids. Metalworking fluid filtration plays a vital role in improving product quality and lowering costs.

Crystal Filtration offers a comprehensive suite of next-generation media filtration solutions. Whether you’re manufacturing EV, hybrid, internal combustion components, or all three, partnering with Crystal Filtration allows you to leverage our filtration expertise. Our efficient metalworking fluid filtration solutions can help you save thousands of dollars annually while optimizing your manufacturing processes.
